Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Mohamed F — 17 Jul 2010
Beautiful is the only word to describe it. Definitely one of the best films of 2008 and probably one of the best films of the decade. I might actually have to squeeze this into my Top 20. Charlie Kaufman has created something so original and extraordinary that I was just left speechless at the end.
Some people have discounted this film as "pretentious" or "philosophic bullshit", but they obviously didn't feel what Kaufman was trying to relay. Philip Seymour Hoffman once again shows off his versatility as an actor.
I would say watch this film and make up your own mind as to whether or not you like it. But if you liked "American Beauty" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", you will absolutely love this film.
