Review of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) by John M — 10 Aug 2009
The first in the Chan-wook Park´s vengeanged trilogy follow by ¨OldBoy¨ and Sympathy for Lady Vengeange¨. This is really a sad film of desperation, loss, and of course, revenge that is beautifully filmed and acted. It is not an action packed film, but everything is developed and handled methodically up to and including the unexpected ending . The violence is spontaneous and very graphic without ever feeling exploitational and speaking of funny, this movie has a lot of dark humor which add enjoyment.
Overall this movie is a great study of revenge and its effects on the soul.
