Review of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) by Wu C — 05 Oct 2008
I did wonder why descriptions of this termed it 'brutal' at first. Starts slow and stylish, and evolves through a failed kidnap, to raise kidney transplant funds, to the uncompromising vengeance bit, which is visceral.
It cleverly uses very little dialogue (as the main character is a deaf mute) which leaves enough to the imagination.and has some cool cinematography throughout. Didn't work out where the Sympathy was though.
