Review of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) by Hoon H — 30 Aug 2009
According to Korean movies Korea is full of wierdos, a concept this movie is not going to dispel. At times funny, at other times gross this movie strips many of the comforting aspects of storytelling such that I struggled to work out what was going on, especially at the beginning.
Unremittingly bleak, not helped by a lack of music (an effort to mimic one the lead character's deafness) and the squalor of the scenes, this does, though, have some beautiful cinematography.
