Review of Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Take One (1968) by W. W — 12 Aug 2011
Interesting concept - director provokes crew and films their reaction. But I don't think it worked out as intended since the crew seemed to be on to him from the beginning, being fully conscious that the whole thing might be a charade to make a point about society.
..and this spurred a whole lot of "the camera is rolling so I better make myself look intellectual" speeches. Plus, a lot of filler scenes without context. I like the idea, and there's a lot to think about here, but it's not as effective or interesting as it could have been.
Fellini's Orchestra Rehearsal is a far better film on the same theme.
