Swordfish is an interesting idea that I don't think ever became fully realized before it fell into the standard hollywood traps of style over substance. A scene designed to capitolize on the popularity of The Matrix's 'bullet-time' opens the film to hook viewers, and then when the audience starts to lose focus, the film throws in Halle Berry's topless chest.

I would tend to think that the majority of the audience went for no other reason than that. Perhaps not. The story is interesting, but never reaches the point of exceptional. The script is sufficient, but it never feels overly intelligent.

The cast all do decent jobs, it never feels like anyone is flexing their acting muscles. All in all, this is a very middling action film. Decent enough to warrant a look for action film fans, but certainly not going to satisfy those who like their films to challenge them.
