Review of Sword of Sherwood Forest (1960) by Kevin R — 23 Mar 2016
You're acting within the law and hiding behind it.
King Richard has gone missing and the Sheriff of Nottingham is blocking off some roads in England and preparing to make a strategic move to take over the countryside. Robin Hood tries to paralyze his efforts long enough for reinforcements that back his king to arrive and shutdown the sheriff.
"I see you can shoot straight. Now shoot crooked.".
Terence Fisher, director of Horror of Dracula, Curse of Frankenstein, The Mummy, Dracula: Prince of Darkness, Island of Terror, and The Gorgon, delivers Sword of Sherwood Forest. The storyline is a slightly different take on Robin Hood. The feel was great and the acting was above average. The cast includes Peter Cushing, Richard Greene, Nigel Green, Jack Gwillim, and Niall McGinnis.
"We're all criminals according to you.".
This was recommended to me by Verizon Fios so I DVR'd it off cable. This was pretty good and entertaining. This wasn't my favorite Robin Hood movie but it was fun to see Peter Cushing in this genre. This is worth viewing once.
"Outlaws have their uses.".
Grade: C+/B-.
