Review of Swingers (2009) by Caleb M — 18 Oct 2008
A hilarious and suprisingly touching comedy that has fun with taking the ultra-macho attitudes in films such as Goodfellas or Resevoir Dogs and showing what some real, average guys are like. Not only does Swingers toy with the sterotypical male bonding themes in film, it has some great scenes that parody the slow-mo walk in Reservoir Dogs and a hilarious shot parodying the entrance into the Copacabana from Goodfellas.
It's also great to see Ron Livingston, who needs to be getting bigger roles. Sure Favreau and Liman steal things from other films, but isn't that what everything is anyways? People stealing other people's ideas?
