Review of Swingers (2009) by Kristi W — 10 Feb 2009
The film that put Jon Favreau and Vince Vaugn on the map, as well as director Doug Liman (who later went on to do The Bourne Identity), Swingers was probably made on a budget of less than the change in your pocket but, like Kevin Smith's Clerks, has a charm, a style and a verve that all the star names and mega budgets can't buy.
Written by Favreau himself, the film is never less than hilarious, the chemistry the guys share is immense and the film is a joy to watch. It's hard to pick a favourite moment as Swingers is chock-a-block packed with highlights; Favreau's cringe-worthy series of answer phone messages to a potential date, the homages to Reservoir Dogs and Goodfellas, and so many more I could name but won't.
A great little film all about friendship and brotherhood. It's so funny and I loved it. I would like to hang out with Vince Vaugn and Jon Favreau. Make it happen please.
