Review of Swingers (2009) by Jeffrey L — 21 Apr 2009
Hilarious oldskool comedy about a group of friends that try to cheer a recently-broken-up friend by bringing him out to a bunch of 50's-style bars night after night.
This is one of those classic comedies where the funny stuff doesn't come from physical comedy like an Adam Sandler movie, but from the dialog and situations. And that dialog is delivered masterfully from all the actors in this movie. There's not really any plot, but there doesn't need to be - this kind of comedy is one of those realistic ones and not having much of a plot makes it feel all the more real. Comedies like this and Free Enterprise are always my favorite for that very reason - Not much plot, not much physical comedy, just realistic characters in realistic situations, having realistic, albeit hilarious, conversations.
