Review of Swingers (2009) by Liam U — 29 Nov 2011
Swingers is one of the finest debuts I've ever seen.
The dialogue here is fantastic. It's so realistic that it's almost recognizable. And it's funny, too. Like, "You're so money and you don't even know it." This movies had me laughing a lot.
And Doug Liman is a great director. I wasn't quite pleased with his Go, but I admired the direction.
Now, the score was my personal favorite characteristic about Swingers. I loved it. It just fits so perfectly with everything.
So yes, Swingers is a great movie. When it was released, a lot of people complained that it was a straight Tarantino rip-off. I'm not saying that it isn't (as there are obvious influences of Tarantino everywhere) but it's not so noticeable that it makes the film unenjoyable.
