Review of Swingers (2009) by Ben B — 10 Aug 2014
If Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau both look back, they are probably glad that 'Swingers' was the launchpad for their careers. A man named Mike (Favreau) is emotionally reeling after the end of a six-year relationship with his longtime girlfriend.
Having spent six months withdrawing into himself, his friend Trent (Vaughn) tries to get him out of his shell. Also involved in the creative process as a screenwriter, Favreau provides all of his characters with seemingly natural, yet hilarious dialogue.
'Swingers' is some good fun. Basically detailing time spent in Vegas, playing NHL video games, going to parties, etc., there is never a shortage of funny, yet important moments. Hidden within all of this are people struggling with their careers, and for Mike, love.
There is a good message to be had here and you will simply enjoy how Favreau is able to wrap things together.
