Review of Swingers (1996) by Jc E — 01 Feb 2011
Let me just start off by saying that I love Vince Vaughn (Couples Retreat) and Jon Favreau (Iron Man 2). In the movies they share, they generally seem to feed off of one another. This movie, directed by Doug Liman (Jumper), however, is a very different approach to the two very amiable actors.
Favreau shows his acting chops, but still seems to have a little fun with the role, while Vaughn really hams it up. It's not exactly a comedy, but it's not exactly a drama either. It probably falls into that category that is marred by its own name, "black comedy".
It's humorous, but it's quite somber too. Still, it's pretty smart. But if you're expecting this to be chock full of rip-roaring zingers, you're in for a shock.
