Review of Swing Vote (2008) by Patrick C — 16 Apr 2009
After seeing how this movie was panned by critics I wasn't that excited to see it. In spite of that, I found myself truly moved at the end but the simple faith that inside of all of us there is decency, conviction, and courage.
The story takes some nice jabs at the political system and makes plain the truth that political parties, as impersonal tools of gaining and keeping power, will say or do anything to win. Perhaps what is needed is people of courage and conviction to step from behind the protection of parties and run as real people and that in order to help them be the people they can be we should be the people we ought to be.
Stern is correct in his assertion that Americans fail to respect that very thing that makes us special. If every American took the time to really think, learn, and open themselves to the reality of our world, our nation, and our neighbors we just might solve some of the problems that dog us.
