Review of Swing Vote (2008) by Brenton A — 16 Aug 2009
A strangely prestigious cast, as well as some surprisingly adroit directorial choices, create an inherent clash with the light-hearted civics lesson tone that prevails throughout. Attempts are made at pulling some heart-strings and adding emotional depth by layering the story with a father-daughter dynamic, and I think this was at least marginally successful.
At the very least, it added some realism to an otherwise implausible and downright illogical storyline. But nonetheless, I found something oddly enjoyable about Swing Vote - I just can't quite pinpoint what it was.
