Review of Swing Vote (2008) by William M — 22 Oct 2010

Being from Toronto and with us having a municipal election just a few days away, this movie speaks volumes to me. Whether it be a federal, provincial, or municipal election, you always hear afterwards about the voter turnout and how it is usually low compared to the population that can vote. So we the voters that don't vote, can't complain since we didn't vote to make a change.

Although this movie may go slow, it is rather funny and I rather enjoyed it. It also helps remind us that even if we don't think about it, we should care about our choices and even if we don't have a choice, do some research and make a choice. Or we can ask around and see what others are doing. Although it may seem unlikely, something like this COULD happen. And if it did, just imagine. Although I'm not talking about at the federal level but for say maybe the provincial or municipal level where I read that during the last municipal election in one ward, the candidate won by 12 votes. I also like the ending where we see him vote but we never know who he voted for.

So for the shear craziness of something like this actually happening, or to remind us what it means to vote, I'd recommend this to anyone to watch, just to see what politicians will do and to get a laugh at them as they try to convince one single voter how to vote, instead of a whole lot of voters. :).
