Review of Swing Kids (1993) by Eric On His Fantasy Quest V — 18 Sep 2007
I remember watching "Swing Kids" twice in class three years ago and I still remember what's it all about. A group of German kids called the Swing Kids- something like the rebellious version of the Hitler Youth- show their opposition to Nazi authority by listening and dancing to jazz and swing music, which were forbidden by the Nazis because they were not of German origin.
The true dramatic story of behind the jazz/swing underground in the days before World War II is good, and so is the acting. I like this historical drama, and since "Swing Kids" is available on DVD, I would like to see it again someday.
Oh....and I always need to remember the following quote that shows the Swing Kids' allegiance to jazz and swing and not to Adolf Hitler and his anti-semetic/nationalist ideology: "Swing Heil!".
