Review of Swimming with Sharks (1994) by Scot Q — 11 Dec 2009
Kevin Spacey is typecast... I am not sure if this is the first of the run or later in the scheme of things, but if you like Spacey as the cold, heartless foil than you will love this movie. I am a fan but not enough to rank this ahead of most of his performances.
It is an inside look at the cutthroat side of Hollywood and how long someone can be degraded until they completely snap. And of course it has one of those endings that leaves you going whoa, though I am not going to give a clue as to why.
Whaley and Forbes put in fine performances though this is really about Spacey and really should have been on Broadway which it probably has been by now.
