Review of Swimfan (2002) by Holly G — 06 Jul 2007
I watched this movie on TV because, well, I'm bored. It's terrible. Did you really expect anything else? But even as far as terrible suspense movies go there are still some really inexplicable things that occur.
First, the crazy chick happens to get arrested toward the end of the movie. She escapes because she steals a gun from a cop and shoots her way out of the cop car. How did she steal the gun? I'm glad you asked. She stole the gun from a cop that was sitting IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE COP CAR WITH HER. Since when do cops share the back seat of a squad car with the criminals. There was no one in the passenger seat. He's just inexplicably in the back seat with her. This was the best way for her to escape? Really? The other problem with the scene where she escapes is that the cop in the backseat with her is clearly right handed (from how he drinks his coffee, holds his paperwork with his left hand and what hand he uses to wipe up the coffee), yet, his holster is on his left side. No one in the making of this movie caught this? Come on.
Secondly, the fact that his gf gets back together with him in the end is absolutely ridiculous. He cheats on her, because of him cheating on her she gets ran off the road, almost killed and dropped into a swimming pool while handcuffed to a wheel chair (I'm guessing the crazy chick got the cuffs from the cops she killed, yet, somehow, she doesn't keep the gun to kill his real gf or render him and his mom unconscious? I don't know either). Yet, his gf gets back together with him. I'm sure this relationship will work swimmingly (pun intended) in the future.
Lastly, I am appalled this movie's average rating is 2.5 stars. I'm looking at someone's review who gave it 5 stars. We allow these people to vote in elections. That is all.
