Review of Swimfan (2002) by Ian W — 03 Mar 2009
I'm afraid that this one doesn't quite make it to "so bad its good" territory. Sure, Erika Christensen's histrionics inspire laughter, the plot elements are completely arbitrary and nonsensical, and the sex is directed in that pseudo-arty pretentious manner that tries to be erotic but mostly leaves audiences impatient waiting for nudity (which there isn't - by the way).
Yeah, that's all chuckle-worthy stuff. But a great deal more of the film is just plain dull, settling instead for relentless mediocrity that would inspire more people to just turn the movie off than it does laughter.
