Review of Sweet Smell of Success (1957) by Luis O — 15 Feb 2008
A very dark film about how far some people will go to succeed and it gets pretty ugly. Tony Curtis plays Sidney Falco an up and coming press agent who wants his own column. Burt Lancaster plays J.J. Hunsecker a ruthless journalist who wants to destroy his sister's relationship with a jazz musician.
Beautifully photographed with a great score, the film really shines with the two leads, Curtis and Lancaster. Although the film follows Curtis and his struggles the film is all Lancaster, he owns it.
