Review of Sweet Smell of Success (1957) by Daniel W — 26 Jun 2009
Two pitbulls in tailored suits.
J.J. Hunsecker (Lancaster), is a powerful New York columnist, and Sidney Falco (Tony Curtis) is the sycophant, pretty boy, nipping at his heels and grinning through the sweat. A cynical, callous, piece of late-period film noir. Some of the best cinematography, and most memorable dialogue of any movie...ever. Oh, and JJ is just a little too hung-up on his own sister.
"I love this dirty town.".
