Review of Sweet Smell of Success (1957) by Alec B — 26 Jul 2011
Sweet Smell of Success, starring Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis.
This bleak film, which has got dark plot and dark characters, plays more or I must extraordinarily in terms of noir. Every character seems to possess darkish background (if and only fairly got inside one of those characters). Burt Lancaster plays J. J. Hunsecker very powerfully and imposingly, Burt's portrayal of role with best performance, finest attire, brilliant and marvelous postures and attitudes, makes him look exactly and more surely a powerful columnist, who rules the town. Burt had given the role far superior touch with his way of talking and handling of household affairs.
Likewise, Tony Curtis' role of Sidney Falco, is amazing and one that looks exactly how a man in desperate search for accomplishment of his personal gains, struggle hard, including doing things beyond the reach.
Sweet Smell of Success, has got superb cinematography by James Wong Howe and taunting music-score by Elmer Bernstein. Film like this should be the ultimate source of research on film-making.
Sweet Smell of Success, is no old to the current greediness and dark truths of modern media, and this film should always stand out as an example to the hidden truth.
