Review of Sweet Sixteen (2002) by Daphnie H — 12 Aug 2006
Sigh... Impressive acting and quite emotional scenes, but I just wasn't interested, because I felt like I'd heard this story a million times already. He's young, troubled, tryin' to be a big man, but he needs to learn a few things.
. and so on... but he is a wanker a lot of the time, as are all of the characters. A few of the (quite unoriginal) 'shocking' physical interactions between the main boy and the other people, I felt were simply there to shock and were just a bit silly and not unlike any other depresszor film like this.
The thing that annoys me most about this film is that the dialogue, whilst authentic, is almost totally uninterpretable and it becomes very annoying, and draws from the film's interest. Worth watching, but I didn't really like it.
