About the first half of this movie is perversely entertaining and a little unsettling, but the rest is just plain repugnant. There may or may not be deep philosophical ideas at work during Sweet Movie, but I stopped trying to find any by the time I witnessed the self-induced vomiting and the naked grown man pissing on himself.
I have a perplexed fascination with Sweet Movie, but I can't bring myself to rate it any higher. I like how it is always throwing weirder and weirder material at the viewer, but it eventually becomes too freakish for its own good.
