Review of Sweet Land (2005) by Amanda C — 20 Jun 2007
Sweetland, was really a timeless treasure. Along with crazy fantasy stories with bittersweet endings, I also really love movies that unfold into the story of human existence. We each have a story, but ultimately our lives seem to be of a larger story.
We are not here because of our choices alone; we are part of a wave of the decisions, memories, and events that happened before our time. This movie demonstrated this brilliantly. The movie begins with death, and follows a man as he reflects of the stories of this grandmother?s past in order to help him make a difficult decision about his future.
The movie felt beautifully circular, and had a graceful flow that impacted me to the point of tears. I really enjoyed this movie more than I anticipated.
