Review of Sweet Land (2005) by Radhika N — 29 Mar 2008
A love-story that depicts the self-righteousness that passed for godliness. The main story in the past is set post-WWI where a young German woman arrives as a mate for a young Norwegian farmer. Their community places all kinds of obstacles to their marriage.
What I like about this story is the immigrant spirit and the many forms it comes in. In the end, the young German "converts" the priest of the local community.
