Rather nice romance movie. If only people have 2nd chance to correct their 1st mistake. Opening there's 2 kids running in the rain. The boy want to marry her. "So I can kiss you anytime I want" is his answer.

Reese Witherspoon is a fashion world latest hot stuff. Her boyfriend Patrick Dempsey is rich son of mayor Candice Bergen. Patrick propose to Reese and she accept it. But she didn't want it to be known yet.

Candice touch her hand and found out about the engagement ring. Reese is going back to her home town Alabama on her own. She has not gone back to see her parents for 7 years. She find Josh Lucas, her ex-husband to sign the divorce paper.

He refuse to do so and call the sheriff who is an old friend of theirs. But it ain't wrong since technically they are still married. It is not trespass. Josh then expose all the things she did in the past.

Candice couldn't find any info about Reese and send a guy to check. Reese call her parents (Fred Ward & Mary Kay Place) to bail her out. Reese meet alot of old pals in town. When she go to the bank to withdraw money, she is reminded of their joint account.

She spend it all on new stuff for Josh home and angers him. Asking him why is he not investing the money, he also mention about her fiance. Nearly sign the papers but change his mind and go to his mum's (Jean Smart) bar.

Reese tag along and get drunk. Humilated an old friend Ethan Embry saying he is gay. Josh carry her home. Awaken she see the paper sign by him. The money is put back into the account. Reese go apologise to Ethan.

The fake reporter saw her and she pretend the house is hers. Ethan fake as her cousin. Patrick go to the house of Ethan to find Reese to surprise her. Josh is there too, bring him to see her. She tell Patrick she is married and he can't take it.

Later on he follow home and accept her past. She want the wedding to be held at the town. Reese is visiting a glass ornaments shop and find out Josh is the boss. Candice pays a visit to the parents. Finall the wedding plan go on.

Her lawyer interrupted when she walk down the aisle, saying she has not sign the papers yet. At the moment she have doubts and apologise to Patrick on she feel. He accepts it well. Candice is angry and scolded Mary.

Reese give her a punch. She go find Josh in the same field and it is raining as well. He ask her why would she want a man like him and she answer "So I can kiss you anytime I want". They are married and have kids.

Patrick is also married.
