Review of Sweet and Lowdown (1999) by Lady D — 10 Feb 2008
Samantha mortons first film, in a great wdy allen piece about something he loves, jazz. sean penn is emmet ray, the self confessed greatest jazz guitarist, set in the 1920s and 30s we follow emmet through highs and lows, and many lady friends, great period setting, and woody allen certainly is respectful in this area, you can put this along side his bullets over broadway for style and humour, penn and morton both nominated for oscars, a film that shows in his later years, allen still hasent lost his nack for a great comedic story.
