Review of Sweet and Lowdown (1999) by Theo M — 13 Oct 2009
Delightful mockumentary about the only brilliant American jazz guitar player Emmet Ray who could have been a match for the European gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt. Excellent acting by Sean Penn, although he obviously can't play the guitar.
He's the charming genius, who at the same time loves to shoot rats at the dump or goes trainspotting. Apart from that he's a pimp, a pool player and a drunk, who eventually fades away in time.
