Review of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007) by Steve D — 02 May 2013
Positive reviews all around because it stays true to the musical. It is difficult to find a difference between the movie and musical, story wise, luckily. I think anyone could have done Sondheim's musical and turn it into a movie as long as they didn't change anything.
Too bad Charlie and the Chocolate Factory wasn't on broadway first. On second thought someone would have had a major lawsuit in their hands if Sondheim's Sweeney Todd been changed. In that case I can direct my gratitude away from Tim Burton.
That man destroyed the legacy of Willie Wonka and will get no sympathy from me from here to eternity.
