Review of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007) by Woods F — 25 Mar 2014
Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd. His skin was pale, and his eye was odd. He shaved the faces of gentlemen who never there-after were heard of again. In this movie, Johnny Depp plays the role of Sweeney Todd, a barber who had a beautiful wife and was the happiest man ever until the corrupt Judge Turpin sent Todd, who at the time was named Benjamin Barker, to Australia on trumped up charges that he didn't do.
Now, 15 years later, he has come back to get revenge on those who have wronged him and find out the mystery as to what has happened to his wife. Tim Burton, the brilliant director, has brought the genius Stephen Sondheim's Tony winning musical to life on the big screen.
With the help of an extraordinary cast, Burton delivers what could be possibly the greatest musical/movie adaptation of our time. This movie will have you hungry, disturbed, bloodthirsty, and leaves you wanting more.
Now, how about a shave?
