Review of Swearnet: The Movie (2014) by Cameron D — 06 Sep 2014
Firstly, I would like to start by saying that I am not a Trailer Park Boys fan. I don't dislike it, but I've never made it must-see viewing. I've caught a handful of episodes at best.
Having sat through the "Drunk and On Drugs Happy Funtime Hour", I was left wondering if maybe Tremblay, Wells and Smith just weren't for me.
Then this movie happened.
I'll admit that as an advocate of free speech (and by that, I mean swearing as often as possible) I was one of the first on board with joining the Swearnet web site. I have my FF certificate, and am proud of it. But I did it more as support for three men in their attempt to go beyond TPB than any desire to actually see the movie.
But see it I did.
I laughed, heartily, many times. Though the premise sometimes feels forced, and some of the writing could have been handled better, the execution for the sake of laughter was a bullseye. And if that's the only thing they were going for, they hit a home run. This is a funny, funny movie, and it's easy to forgive the scenes that don't quite fit.
See this movie. Even if just to say that you did and were a part of the movement, you won't be disappointed in the investment of time and money.
To the four men, and the rest of the team, you have my undying support. I am a member of the Swearnet Army, and always will be.
