Review of Swamp Thing (1982) by Ashley H — 29 Jan 2018
From writer/director Wes Craven comes the bizarre and macabre superhero adventure Swamp Thing. Adapted from the DC comic series, the story follows a scientist named Dr. Alec Holland who is transformed into a plant creature and attempts to stop the formula that caused his accident from falling into the hands of a nefarious businessman.
Starring Louis Jourdan, Adrienne Barbeau, and Ray Wise, the cast isn't too bad; though Barbeau is dead weight and has no chemistry with her co-stars. However, the real problem is with the script, which is hard to follow and doesn't make a lot of sense.
Also, the creature costumes (other than Swamp Thing) are incredibly cheesy. A poorly made film, Swamp Thing is a dull and boring trek through the bayou.
