Review of Suththi (2015) by Prashast S — 23 Mar 2016
Movie: Suththi.
Rating: 4/5.
Spoofs are often on successful films, and they are intended just for fun. This is the thing you need to clarify within before watching SUTHTHI, the spoof of the Tamil Action Drama film KATHTHI. As KATHTHI had Vijay, SUTHTHI has Vignesh Karthik in the lead. I don't about the rest. I understood the intention of this 20 minute comedy and realized that it didn't make fun of the original, but just presented a funny example of a situation like that.
Vignesh Karthik is superb. The comic expressions and timing of him are the best things in this film. His voice does resemble Vijay at times. The guys who play his partners do well. The comic acts by them fit in the right place. Besides, the director, whoever he is, has done a commendable job by adding the right amount of clean humour.
Some might feel it's a mockery of KATHTHI, but it doesn't seem like this to me. I very honestly feel that SUTHTHI is just for fun and neither it intends nor it does mock the film or its characters. Since I haven't fully watched KATHTHI except a few fight scenes, I would say that this is a spoof that is commendable.
The funniest part of the film is in its climax itself. The names of the channels who take Jeeva's interview are a thing to watch out for sure.
Overall, SUTHTHI is fun unlimited. Go, watch it for it's available on YouTube and that too for free, with a 20 minutes runtime. Don't feel it is a mockery of the original film, but enjoy it as a comedy intended to make you laugh.
Enough said and written, isn't it?
