Review of Suspiria (1977) by James J — 30 Oct 2010
This is dated and could be seen as silly in a whole host of ways - why does the blood look so much like paint? Why is the music so very electronica and different to what usually plays in a horror film? Why is the light in that room bright green and why does everyone think that's a normal way to decorate?
Forget these things and just enjoy the crazy atmosphere and really quite brutal Witchyness. It's not gentle, even though it comes across as absurd. I think I enjoy it in a similar way to which a modern audience might enjoy a "Saw" film.
