Review of Suspiria (1977) by Michael A — 14 Oct 2009
Beyond words - a visually stunning work from argento, in 1977 a true master at the peak of his craft.
I was recently treated to a screening of very mildly worn-and-cut 35mm archival print made in the original technicolor process, on loan to the gene siskel film center from the archives of the national media museum in bradford, england. I watched in amazement from the second row of the main auditorium, as a favourite i'd only ever known via home video engulfed me in its beauty and assaulted me with its soundtrack.
Seeing a proper print of this classic, in a theater, is like seeing it again for the first time. if you ever have the chance, do not sleep. you owe it to yrself to experience this as it was originally meant to be seen.
