You direct a splendid, if very dark, movie, the ending is sad, testing audiences are shocked, you are forced to change it to a happy ending, you do it, testing and general audiences love it... and the final product is still splendid! A salute to Mr.
Hitchcock, a creepy little Englishman and a genius! Still, I would love to see the wicked unhappy original ending one day...
