Review of Survivor (2015) by Dale K — 18 Oct 2015
Well, if you haven't seen this plot before then you just started watching intrigue / action movies last week. It seems that there's generally a handful of movie plots / genres out there in movieland that just get rehashed time and again.
Every once in awhile you'll see something break the mould, like when Matrix came along, but nothing much to see here, if you're looking for original. Yes, there's a foul plot afoot. The bad guys want revenge / money and innocent people get involved--one, a key player who miraculously becomes a super hero overnight (see Kate Abbott).
Ah, but that's OK, it's only a movie. And it's only typical Hollywood fair. Ironically, isn't the main focus of Hollywood high ROI, not anything of great merit like stretching artistic boundaries? Here you have the typical innocent who goes on the lamb, framed / suspected to be the killer / terrorist, etc.
And she ends up saving the day in a most miraculous way proving her innocence. Surprise! As I said, you've seen it all before. But if you're just looking for a little entertainment and willing to overlook the cliché plot and standard fair nasty, nasty evil people killing and killing and looking to kill some more (yet for desk jockey turned super hero who saves a million people at the end), then you'll enjoy this one.
