Review of Surviving Christmas (2004) by Ola G — 24 Nov 2008
Drew Latham (Ben Affleck) is an executive with too much money and just an empty life as his companion. He is facing yet another Christmas alone and due to circumstances he ends up visiting his childhood home. His desperation after not spending Christmas alone makes him offer the current family in his childhood home, a reward to let him spend Christmas with them. This becomes a painful experience for the family..
Well, this is one gigantic melting snowcone. Afflecks overacting made my teeth cringe.... The story is just in orbit and not very believable. This is more or less a waste of time and it does not evoke any Christmas feelings what so ever. This is just a screaming mess. The only bright spot in "Surviving Christmas" is Christina Applegate. I like her. Period. In this feature she is subtle and yet sparking. And very attractive as always.. Nevertheless, see something else than "Surviving Christmas", if you are looking for something that can get you in the right mood for X-Mas.
