Review of Survival of the Dead (2010) by Greyson M — 28 Mar 2010
I'm a massive Romero fan, other than the pointless and bland endeavour that was Day of the Day, I've loved all of his previous installments of this series and although I would go as far as saying this is a decent addition to the series, it is generally poor by Romero's standards.
One thing I will give credit for is the use of Alan Van Sprang again, meaning you get to learn more about his character that first appeared in Land of the Dead and later Diary of the Dead, however, you're never quite sure whether you actually like his character or not....and that's pretty par for the course.
There's nothing overly impressive about the storyline and unlike all of the previous installments (even Day had a decent storyline and moral message) this offers no real moral message and having a bit of a fued between two Irish families as the main plot of the storyline is pushing it a bit.
There is enough gore to keep zombie fans satisfied, but other than Day of the Dead I'd say this was the worst film in the series.
