"I know what blood looks like"...I think it was this line I saw in the trailer, spoken by an 8 year old girl, that first had me busting to check this film out when it arrived to Australian cinemas.

How disappointed I was then to find that it was a straight-to-DVD release here...and after seeing the film I am still scratching my head as to why it was by-passed when so much actual crap makes it on to our cinema screens.

I found this a compelling piece of American cinema, with a story that slowly bubbled away and roped me in to what was going to happen. It was good to see familiar characters playing against type too, and the film managed to be suspenseful without getting wrapped up in the current wave of "lets try to be creepy".

One star off for an inconsistency near the end where a cop, who is able to shoot out someone's tyres from 50-100 metres away isn't able to hit someone only a few feet away in the same room...but otherwise a really gripping tale.
