Review of Surfwise (2007) by Mattaphor W — 23 Jun 2008
There is a danger for documentary film makers to either vilify or beatify their subjects, Doug Pray deftly avoids that danger in his profile of Doc Paskowitz. He helps us to understand the life of Paskowitz through the eyes of his children who were deeply impacted by his and his wives un-orthodox lifestyle choices.
It's amazing the range of reactions one experience as the film progress, pray has done a masterful job arranging this story so that we understand how the complexity of the life of this family. A wonderful film.
