I was totally caught off guard by this great movie. Shot in documentary-form, Surf's Up is basically a surf documentary with Penguins instead of real surfers (although real surfers make voice acting cameos).

Everything is shot in such a believable way that it's pretty amazing how everything was put together. Every interview, every wave, and even the camera angles are so carefully done that it's hard to believe the movie's about a bunch of penguins (and a chicken).

I thought this was just going to be a silly kid's movie, but I was really surprised. The CGI, especially the water/waves, is truly amazing for a "cartoon". I definitely recommend it. You'll be surprised at how much you will end up liking it.
