Though not the best animated film of 2007, Surf's Up is a well-crafted combination of mainstream and independent film-making that remains consistently entertaining throughout in part to the fluid live-action-translated animation, likeable characters and strong all-star voice acting from Shia LaBoeuf, Jeff Bridges, Zooey Deschanel and Jon Heder, but also from the cleverly-filmed mockumentary style and genuinely witty ad-libbed dialogue.
