Review of Surf Ninjas (1993) by Leigh A — 16 Sep 2007
This five star rating is totally unironic. I get a great deal of pleasure watching Surf Ninjas, and even thinking about it. Why is Rob Schneider playing the role of a teenager? ROB SCHNEIDER, YOU WERE 30 WHEN THIS MOVIE WAS MADE! Give me a hug.
And a Game Gear. The infallible optimism that the protagonist and his BAND OF BROTHERS carry through the whole movie, as evidenced by the cover of this film, clues me into a delusional world that I'll never be a part of.
I can't think of anything bad about this movie. The whole premise, that Ernie Reyes Jr. is a NINJA WHO SURFS and who is also a prince from some far-off nation that Leslie Nielson wants to overthrow is basically gold.
Why doesn't HOLLYWOOD make movies like this anymore? BECAUSE NOBODY HAS A SOUL ANYMORE IN THIS POSTMODERN WORLD.
