Review of Support Your Local Sheriff! (1969) by Andrew D — 17 Jun 2007
This movie was completely unknown to me until my girlfriend introduced me to it this year. While maybe not as side splitting as "blazzing saddles" the movie is true to itself and just as funny in its own different way.
It relies on slapstick and circumstantial comedy rather than the racial and sexual humor that Mel Brooks uses so well. A very funny movie set up very well from its opening scene. A goldminer meets his demise and while at the funeral a dog jumps onto the casket during the sermon.
Later somebody finds gold completely distruping the funeral service which is left unfinished.
