Review of Supernova (2000) by Jason D — 09 Dec 2008
Supernova is the story of a rescue medical ship that receives a distress call from a far off mining planet. When they reach it, things go bad when a lone "survivor" comes aboard with a mysterious vagina supernova that gives one super-strength when you fist-fuck it.
This was a doomed project half-heartedly directed by the usually awesome Walter Hill (The Warriors, 48 Hours, Last Man Standing) but was plagued with all sorts of production problems and wound up being a muddled mess.
Still, if you look at the movie from a bare-bones popcorn entertainment standpoint, the movie can easily get the job done, especially for people who aren't as into movies as others are. It's too bad this didn't do better, because there is a great cast to it including James Spader who looks more like a villain in this film than a lead good guy, Angela Basset (because she loved doing Critters 4: In Space so much that she had to do another space film), Peter Facinelli, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Robert Forster (who I'm robbed up in the first 5 god damn minutes of this film.
Like I said, not the best movie around, but mildly entertaining to say the least. The special effects are decent as well, and there are titties here and there. Meh.
