Review of Superman Returns (2006) by Al V — 02 Nov 2012

While this movie wasn't terrible, Bryan Singer & his writers didn't let this character evolve from his debut under the direction of Richard Donner. I feel bad for the actor who played the illegitimate son because no wanted Superman to be a "baby daddy".

Kate Bosworth was already outshined by Erica Durance in Smallville & didn't do any justice to Lois Lane. And Lex Luthor should've been a billionaire because that would've made him much more intimidating (Michael Rosenbaum proved that on SV).

Perhaps Bizarro or Brainiac should've appeared with Lex stealing Kryptonian crystals. And while Brandon Routh did well with the material he was given & embraced the role, it just wasn't enough to bring Superman back as the world's greatest hero to mainstream audiences (even though Smallville did that).

We'll just have to wait for Zack Snyder & Henry Cavill in 2013.
