Review of Superman Returns (2006) by Devin W — 16 Mar 2014
The highly anticipated return of the Man of Steel finally arrived back in 2006. The anticipation was through the roof, I couldn't wait to see it unfold. The opening credits role with the iconic John Williams theme covered by John Ottman, bringing back the nostalgia.
I really wanted this to be better than Superturd III and IV, was it? Sure, it wasn't awful but man talk about dull. Too long, not enough action, Lex IV films in STILL has the same real- estate ambitions! Brandon Routh did what he could, he looked like Superman but a tad too young, with the script by Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris, Routh unfortunately had to mimic the late Christopher Reeve.
Overall a boring film, 30 minutes should've been cut. Plus the notion for Singer having to spoon feed us as if we never watched the original. This should've been a straight reboot instead of a homage to the Donner films.
